Poetry isn’t as popular as it used to be. However, it’s still one of the most important and creative forms of literature. As it turns out, it’s fairly difficult to mess up a poetry app, apparently. There are a smattering of poetry apps with tons of famous poems and all of that. You can find those everywhere. However, there are some apps that are flat better than others. Here are the best poetry apps for Android!
Price: Free / Varies
Amazon’s Kindle platform is an excellent source of literature. That includes poetry. Amazon has a variety of published works from both popular and less popular writers. Most of the collections cost less than $15 and most cost less than $10. You can find most of the classics along with some new age stuff as well. The Kindle app features offline reading, a dark mode, various customizations such as font size, and more. It’s not a bad experience by any stretch. Barnes & Noble’s Nook app is similarly good if you just can’t stand Amazon for whatever reason.
English Poets and Poems
Price: Free / $1.99-$8.99
Poetry apps like this one are fairly common. It’s a simple app with a ton of poems. However, we liked this one more than most of the others. It features 44,000 poems, works offline, has a decent search, and it has a night mode. This is decent as far as poetry dump apps go. It even has Material Design, a random poem button, and a bookmarking feature. The app is free with advertising. You can pay $1.99 to remove ads or you can donate more if you want to.
Google Play Books
Price: Free / Varies
Google Play Books is another popular ebook platform. It has a lot of the same features and content as Amazon Kindle or Barnes & Noble Nook. There are a ton of poetry collections by classic writers and newer writers as well. They all go for a fair price and the app works quite well. You get an offline mode, a dark mode, and more. Google Play Books also lets you upload books you already own. It kind of helps put your whole collection in one spot. It works well for poetry fans.

Mirakee is a sort of social network for poets. It’s all poetry all the time there. You log in, publish your poems, follow other poets, read their stuff, and everyone offers each other criticisms and encouragement. The app features a simple UI, post design tools, and more. It even helps you become searchable by Google after your 20th post. This is actually one of the best poetry apps we could find for writers as well as readers. There are in-app purchases, but they’re strictly for donation purposes. You can’t actually buy anything on this app.
Poems is another unique poetry app for both writers and readers. It comes with a ton of poems out of the gate. All of the app’s poetry is available offline as well. Additionally, you can write and add your own poetry to the app. It’s moderated by the developers. Thus, it may take some time to publish. However, it seems to be a decent spot for writers to write and readers to read. Mirakee is a slightly better platform overall. However, it doesn’t hurt to try this as well.
